Welcome to my personal blog! I write about a variety of topics related to software, data, math, literature, and music – the first three as a professional and the later two as more of a hobbyist. Posts are categorized according to the topic and also according to the style of the posts. I have several different styles of blog posts:
- Portfolio – These posts are not meant to be explanatory. They are short, focused demos of highly specialized work or projects comprising a curated showcase of my professional work.
- Tutorial – These posts are meant to be explanatory, accessible, instructive, and sometimes even opinionated introductions to (a) specific topic(s). It will be clear from the start what you need to get started with a tutorial (have Python or Docker installed, have an account with Kaggle, etc.), and I will focus on citing sources, providing further reading, not skipping steps, and making tutorials reproducible and modular in the sense that if one tutorial explains how to set up Python virtual environments, the same steps can be used in another tutorial that uses virtual environments.
- None of the above – Posts not tagged as “Portfolio” or “Tutorial” are less concentrated and comprehensive, but more causal and frequent. This allows me to get feedback on ongoing work, talk about hobbies, and gives readers an opportunity to suggest topics for new tutorials.
One of my big motivations is sharing my knowledge and experience in a way that helps other people – that makes them less stressed, more confident, more capable, more independent, encourages inquiry and creativity, and just plain makes them feel good. So, being able to share what I’m working on keeps me focused and energized. Let’s build something cool.
PS I do not have any sponsors, advertisers, financial disclosures, or conflicts of interests to report. I focus on open source tools, and tech stacks that are open source, free-to-use, or offer free tiers or trials for education purposes in that order of preference, and I will not take pay to recommend any subscription service. Currently, in fact, my blog is not monetized at all, but please send a message of support through the contact page if you like what you see so far.
